Director of Movement, Laura Buckner

Laura Buckner is a distinguished educator in the fine arts community with a passion for nurturing creative expression in kids of all ages. With over 15 years of teaching experience, all proudly in Parker County, Laura has dedicated her career to shaping the next generation of performers.

Laura has been a drill team director for 16 years. In addition to leading these award-winning programs, she teaches general dance classes in Parker County.

Her journey in dance began as a TVCC Cardette. Through her involvement with the Cardettes, Laura had the privilege of performing in events such as The State Fair of Texas Parade, The Neiman Marcus Adolphus Parade, and even The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland.

Continuing her academic pursuits, Laura earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas Christian University, proudly rooting for the Horned Frogs.

Laura is an active choreographer and adjudicator for dance programs and dance competitions across Texas.

Beyond her professional achievements, Laura finds joy in family life.

Director of Music, James Buckner

James Buckner is a dedicated music educator and accomplished musician with a commitment to nurturing young talents through engaging and creative music programs. James's journey with music began at the age of 5 when he first started taking piano. His early fascination with music blossomed over the years, leading him to participate in band programs throughout middle and high school. This early exposure to ensemble playing sparked his passion for music education and performance.

James began his higher education at Tyler Junior College and continued his academic journey at Texas Christian University, earning dual Bachelor's degrees in Music Education and Music Theory & Composition. His dedication and leadership were further evident as he served as Drum Major for the renowned Horned Frog Marching Band.

Continuing his pursuit of musical excellence, James earned a Master's degree in Music Composition at TCU, solidifying his expertise in music education and composition. His academic achievements laid the foundation for his career, equipping him with the knowledge and skills to inspire and educate young musicians.

For the past 14 years, James has served as the Director of Bands in Parker County where he has played a pivotal role in shaping the musical development of students across various age groups. His leadership has not only elevated the quality of musical performances, but has also instilled a deep love for music among his students.

In addition to his role in public education, James is passionate about early childhood music education. As the Director of Music, James brings his extensive experience and enthusiasm for music to the youngest learners. Through music, he lays the foundation for their musical journey with interactive and joyful music activities.

James remains an active performer, sharing his piano talents locally at church as well as across DFW and throughout the United States.
